There isnt really many true "American" food. Most is derived from other countries. Main reason people dont go out and ask "Who feels like some american tonight?"
Asking that would make you sound more like a cannibal, than someone hungry for meatloaf. |
Not true. People don't go out and say let's get American tonight because that sounds stupid.
I say "let's go get some sushi" not "let's get Japanese".
Anyways there are lots of American foods.
The hot dog is American. While sausage has an old EU history it was Americans that added the bun and used a smaller different style sausage.
The hamburger is also American. In California we were first to ground up steak into patties and serve it on a bun. Ever heard of McDonalds?
Modern day Ice Cream is also American.
Lots of foods that require electricity or a mechanical device to prepare are American. We had an industrial revolution here about 100-150 years ago...lots of foods were started in that era that we eat today.
