Sorry I missed this post. I am not sure about the JPN versions. If someone has a JPN version and can verify the letter on their box, if any, that would help.

You'll want to upgrade to 2.0 first. Check this thread for instructions on the upgrade:

You can use most homebrew with 2.0 . If you'd rather take FULL advantage of homebrew, you can then downgrade from 2.0 back to 1.50 . Here is where you'd need to go for that:
