Dude, 3-5 mb is NOT big for an MP3. Some other alternatives that you have are:
-Sony's proprietary ATRAC song format
-err... I think that's it

cant you just you sonic stage to convert it to ATRAC ?

Yeah. I have SoundStage but have never used ATRAC before, so I'm going to give it a try with the PSP.

Yeah, atrac owns. I dropped all of my songs by abot 3 mbs each. Plus, sound quality aint half bad

This is like asking how many MP3s can I fit on a hard drive.

It depends on the compression of the MP3s and the size of the Memory Stick. After that it's just math. Currently, on my 512MB memory stick that I bought just for media, I have four full albums totalling 347MB. With a total of 56 songs. I left some room to throw one or two 1/2 hour TV shows on it. (Big fan of Arrested Development and The Office)
