Rep Power: 0 | Try formatting your memory stick again, and see if you get closer to the 512. I doubt there are fakes; memory sticks only come in 32, 256, 512, 1 Gig, etc. Unless they somehow manipulated a memory stick, I don't see how they could get 490ish on a memory stick (before formatting). If you noticed, the numbers double each time it goes up a level Ex: 128*2=256
Also, the PSP counts megabytes in a different way... forgot exactly what the numbers were. Hopefully someone else can help you in that... nonetheless, you will never have exactly 512 megabytes free. |

Rep Power: 0 | yeah thanks, i know you lose space to formatting. i just wanted to know if others with 512's are getting 480 or 468.
i know 12mbs isnt the end of the world, i'm just curious if its true.
and the fakes work fine, they are just smaller. |

There's probably a bit more that 1 decimal gigabyte, then you've got to take into account formatting, resulting in your figure of 947mb. | The same applies on smaller cards of course. |

Rep Power: 0 | Well it depends on the formatting, 468mg is about right for FAT I believe. The size of the card won't tell you if its fake or not, the fake cards trick the PC and look bigger than they are. If the card actually stores 468mg of files (try filling it up) then you have no problems. |

Rep Power: 0 | yeah my stick does hold 468mbs, its just i saw someone did some testing on the real and fake ones and he stated that a real one should hold 480.
so i just wanted some people with 512's to post what size they are getting so
i could see if his theory was correct |
