Pellican USB Data Cable $4.96 - PSP Forum

I have seen this brand available at Walmart, Target, Rino, Gamestop, and Gamerush. This cable sells normally for ~$10, except Walmart where it sells for $4.96.

Although I am not able to confirm it yet, I believe the Walmart version has an exclusive feature. It doubles as a USB power cable! Apart from the USB mini-B cord, there is a separate power cord that plugs into the DC in connector on your PSP, for charging over USB!

This is an exceptional value since it does two different functions than the other cables, and half the cost to boot!

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT buy the Pelican USB cable or any other cheap cable for your PSP. I and several others have had nothing but problem with cheap cables in general and the Pelican cable specifically. I got that cable and could only transfer the smallest files with it....all others gave I/O errors and other strange behavior.

I highly suggest you not buy a cable from the game section of a store...get a good cable from the computer section. A USB "A" to "mini-B" cable is what the PSP requires. It will cost you more but it will work. Getting a good cable totally cleared up all my problems that the Pelican cable had me pulling my hair out with.

Just my two cents worth but I hope it helps.

I use the the Mad Catz usb that comes with the starter kit. Works for me IMO.

I have the pelican. Works perfectly, and charges roughly the same amount of time as the AC cord, but i dont use it to charge it anymore, even though pelican promises a "wont bust your stuff" guarantee, i dont trust it that much.

i baught the max media usb kit from datel... for 15$ its a program that transfers most videos on your comp 2 mpeg4 the only video type that the psp accepts. havent tried it yet tho b/c my comp has a major virus and cant detect the psp in the usb drive

I have yet to see a virus that disables USB device detection, but anyways.... lol

Do your other devices work (USB devices) if they do it's not a virus, you're either not going into USB mode on the PSP OR you're using an older version of windows than 2000/XP.
