Broke my Analog Stick! Now What? Please Help!! - PSP Forum

Well, I posted previously that the Analog "Nubb" was uncomfortable to play with. So, I went I bought some after-market Analog Sticks today to see how I liked them. I popped the factory one off without a problem, then put the after-market one on. After finding out that the system would not fit in the Logitech case I have, I removed the after-market one, which didn't come off very easily. After reinstalling the factory nubb, I realized that the stick did not have a full range of motion. I then turned on the system to see that the system was scrolling through the game menu in high speed!! I only bought this thing this week and I've already trashed it!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, what are my options now? I know I can try to change it, but where do I buy a replacement? Or, can Sony fix it for me at a price?

I can't believe this! Brand new system Hosed!! Please Help!!

take back to where you bought it and ask for a new one? can you do that? if not sony might be able to

sounds like the alignment is off which would explain the loss of movement and the scrolling. Have u tried taking it back off and doing it again?

well if you have the cash go to wallmart or a big store buy a psp put the crap one in the box take it back as an 'unwanted gift' for a refund. or if they will only change it just sell 1 of them on ebay.

You could order a replacement analog stick for around $25.
I need to do this to mine as well.

I'm pretty sure ebay has some sellers selling them.

Well, I called SCEA today and they told me that it is out of warranty because I bought it off of Ebay (even though it was a brand new system in an unopened box!). They told me I could send it in for a non-warranty exchange, for $89.99. I said no thanks and was pretty discouraged. I didn't want to try buy one from Walmart then try to swap it out as I don't believe that is right.

I then grabbed the system and started pushing the analog stick around pretty forcibly as I was convinced I would have to replace it myself anyways. Then low and behold, the sucker started working properly and had a full range of motion!! I launched MLB 06 and played a game and the thing worked perfectly!!! Wow, God must be watching out for me!!

Thanks for all the help guys. If I have anymore problems with it, I will buy a replacement off Ebay then change it myself. (Maybe I should buy one now and have it on hand in the event it breaks at a later time.) Thanks again!!
