| where to begin...
Homebrew is user-made code packed in EBOOT.pbp files (yes, all of them) that allows the PSP to run emulators, utility programs and things I can't talk about
sites to download these are here:
http://www.pspforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9073&start=0
Before you begin:
Insert the Mini USB cable int the PSP and the PC
On the PSP, go to Settings(leftmost on the home menu)>USB mode
When you want to exit USB mode (ONLY WHEN YOU ARE NOT DOWNLOAING DATA TO THE PSP) press O
You CANNOT connect to the internet through te USB cable
Homebrew will work on these firmwares thusly:
1.0 (Only released in Japan) can run any EBOOTs, but only unsplit ones
1.5 can run split eboots (already split or made split with the SeiPSPtool)
2.0 can run some homebrew using a special exloit that acesses through a .tiff image
2.01 and 2.50 CANNOT run homebrew to this date
Instructions:
For split homebrew: Open up the directory
Place the folder without the % sign into your (root*)/PSP/GAME/ folder. Then place the % folder there. For every homebrew app you will have a corrupt data icon. Do not delete these, they are vital. For emulators, put the roms in the non-% folder. Most homebrew uses O for yes and X for no, not the other way round
For Unsplit (1.0 made) homebrew
Unzip it.
Use SeiPSPTool
Browse (find the file)
Name it (ie. SNES9xTyl)
Select your PSP drive (the root drive)
Check the box "to remove corrupt icons"
Run it.
Firmware is the PSP's version. Keep it at 1.5. If you have a 2.0, refer to this thread
http://www.pspforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8808&start=0
For 2.0, do the same except follow the directions in the Readme.txt file, then run the expoit in the PHOTO section instead of using the icon
After every extraction of homebrew, make sure its in the right folder |
