Hello, I am new to the forum, the first PSP forum for me to use, so I am not sure whether I had to make this thread in this forum or in the PSP games one. Anyway, I think that I have not a really common problem for a PSP user, I will try to bring it to you in the most understandable way. Here is it:
I have a Phat PSP model 1004, about 4-5 months ago I upgraded it to 5.00 M33-6 custom firmware, to be able to run ISO files (games mostly). I have downloaded games like GTA: Vice City/ Liberty Sity, Surfs' up (lmfao), God Of War: Chains of The Olympus, The Force Unleased, Virtua Tennis 3, WipeOut Pulse, Burnout: Legends/ Dominator, Tomb Raider: Unniversary, Flatout Head On, Naruto Ultimate Ninja Heroes 2 (rofl), Monster Hunter Freedom and more. All those games work fine. The first problem for me to face was with PES09, the console was capable of seeing it in /games folder, but when running it, PSP got frozen with a black screen all along, though it seems to be a common problem with PES09 for many PSP users so I am not really interested in the ways of solving it (though it would be marvellous if you're able to help me on that one too). The thing that worries me more is that when I downloaded FIFA10 (thepiratebay.org) it didn't work, I mean, the PSP could see the game (icon) but when I tried to run it it gave me maybe the most usual error for a PSP console ''The game could not be started. (80020148)''. It's kind weird as long as it was a working ISO, and the console could see it.. However I thought that it was just a bad download link or whatever. Then, when I downloaded NBA2K10 I ran into exactly the same problem, the PSP was capable of seeing the game, though not of running it, 80020148 error all the way. Well, that's all so far. I wonder why don't those games work, and yes I checked all the CFW settings, and yes all the other games still worked. Maybe it's because I have my CFW too old for those games (they both are from 2009), if it's right, do you know any way to upgrade my PSP/CFW, on the other hand it sounds like a nonsense and stuff.
Okay, inform me if you know a way to solve the problem with THE games. Thank you for reading this epicly boring novell, lmfao.

The games are not working on that firmware because of recent changes (the newer titles anyway). You could use Yoshiro's newest decrypter program or you could upgrade your firmware to 5.50 GEN-D2 which I would recommend. 5.00 m33-6 has become horribly outdated and there is no game that does not work with 5.50 GEN-D2 and you wont have to patch anything to play them either. The only advantage of m33 firmware is hostcore which wont run on gen firmwares but if you dont use it anyway its not an issue. The m33 MS speedup feature can be used with gen fw and works perfectly so 5.50 GEN-D2 is just as fast as 5.00 m33-6. So install that to your system and all your games will work just fine. Use these settings in your recovery menu, in your advanced settings you need to make sure the the "execute boot.bin in umd/iso" option is disabled. For the driver mode, use the "No UMD m33 driver" option. You can also use whatever plugins you want for game/vsh/pops modes exept for hostcore.prx as I mentioned earlier. Some games will crash if your speed is clocked at 333 mhz (like smackdown vs raw 2010 for example) so if you have that problem just set your speed to default and it work fine. You can then use a plugin like freecheat to clock and lock your speed at 333 in-game so its just as fast as not having to set your speed to default in the xmb to boot your game.

Thank you man for your absolutely useful advice. Downloaded and installed 5.50 GEN-D then 5.50 GEN-2D. NBA 2K10 works perfect, haven't tried FIFA10 yet, 'cause I don't have it on my PSP :P
