Hello, and welcome to the Dummies [n00bs in this sence] guide to file tranferring. First, i'll make a step-by-step guide then if you still have questions then ask away!

1. Format your Memory Stick. This can be done by going onto Settings>System Settings>Format Memory Stick. [WARNING! If you allready have data, then read the 'Alternative' instructions]

Alternative:

1. Connect your USB Date Cable [This is needed, if you don't have one, buy one.] to the PSP and select USB Mode from the Settings menu.

2. Make new folders under 'PSP' named [Must be in capitals!!!]:

MUSIC

PHOTO

GAMES

VIDEO

SYSTEM

GENERAL [If I have any of them wrong please post the correct names and i'll edit them in]

Your ready to start transferring.

2. Now you will have directory folders under PSP. You must use each folder for each different media file.

EG: Music files go under MUSIC, photo files under PHOTO etc.

WARNING:

1. Video MP4's are stored in 100MNV01 uder MP_ROOT!!

2. Files accepted on v1.5 PSP consoles:

MP3 [Music]
ATRAC3 [Music]
JPEG [Photo]
MPEG4 [Video]

Files accepted on v2.0 PSP consoles:

MP3 [Music]
ATRAC3 [Music]
JPEG [Photo]
PNG [Photo]
MPEG4 [Video]

3. Now wait untill your PSP has finished transferring the file[s] before you quite USB Mode. After the transfer is complete, check to see if the files have transferred correctly.

4. Voila. There you have it, your PSP is not multi-funtional!

"VIDEO" is wrong. Its "MP_ROOT" and then within that folder create another one called "100MNV01" and place your .MP4 files in there.

and i dont know what "GENERAL" and "SYSTEM" is for?

Its not GENERAL its COMMON, for when you download a file thats not PSP-playable (.zip,.rar)

Also, for 2.0 PSPs you need to make another folder inside the MP_ROOT folder. If you have any AVC encoded video files they need to go into: MP_ROOT/100ANV01/... as opposed to the standard 100MNV01 for previous firmware versions. If you were to put a MP4 file that was AVC encoded into the 100MNV01 folder, it will NOT play.

So for 2.5 you still need to put your .mp4 files in here: "MP_ROOT>100MVN01" ?

and how can you tell if your MP4 is AVC encoded?

and you don't have to have a usb cord you can use a card reader

Is a thumbnail file essential when downloading, and encoding a movie clip?

The thumbnail isnt that essential, but it's not hard to make either. Just take a screenshot of your movie, open up an image editor, and resize the pic to 160 x 120. Then save it as a .jpg or .jpeg file. After that, renamit it to match the name of the movie file, and change the extension from .jpg or .jpeg to .THM.

can I tranfer the files from eboot loader, then the ones from Snes emulator, then some roms for the emu and also some pictures at the same time????
