I own a good amount of umds. That's not the point of homebrew. Homebrew is a chance for developers to come together as a whole and make a great system even better. If Sony wanted to put an end to the psp hb scene, then they would work together with the underground devs and introduce their version of hot and needed apps such as psp radio, afkim, mapthis and many others. Plus, there's no official "Sony" video converter for those who want to watch simple video content on their psp. They promised us an all in one portable media device and they haven't delivered thus far. Almost 85-90% of the titles are port overs and that's the reason behind homebrew games which in some cases, stand up to mainstream game developers.
As long as the psp is around and the possible psp revision that might be announced during this year's E3, there will always be a healthy homebrew scene. I can go on all day on the psp's drawbacks without homebrew and you'll still be stuck on your "umd purchase" suggestion. What I do worry about are those members who sign up just to find out how to get free games on their psp and make that their first post. Those are the ones that could care less about homebrew because:
1. They're too cheap
2. They're little kids who think it's cool to call themselves "pirates"
And 3. They don't read the forum rules and ask how I can help them steal games on an open forum and again,
make that their first post. Once they find out, their gone without a care. That's not why I got into the scene in the first place.
So instead of assuming that that's all we do here, try and visit
pspupdates and look at the amount of support and developments that are on there. You're lucky I didn't even touch emulation software and capabilities because I can go on for another 37 paragraphs.
Good luck.
