| Tutorial: Running Homebrew & Emulators on Firmware 2.0 Are you wondering how to run homebrew on Firmware 2.0? This is a tutorial how. (Note, I haven't tried it myself, this is from what I can gather from reading PSPU forums. If anyone has corrections, post them here or PM me and I'll fix it.)
First, download Fanjita's awesome eBoot Loader 0.8.5 from the bottom of this post.
Connect your PSP up using the USB cable.
Go to Settings menu (on the PSP) and select USB Connection.
Open your PSP's memory stick on your computer.
Open the eBoot Loader zip file and extract it to the memory stick.
Do not extract it to the PSP or GAME folders. Extract it right inside root of the memory stick. (This is where the PSP and MP_ROOT folders are.)
Wait till the files have finished transferring.
The eBoot loader is now on your PSP.
Press O and disconnect the USB cable.
Hard reset the PSP by holding the power switch up for 10 seconds (till the power light stops flashing).
Take out any UMDs in the PSP, for convenience.
Turn it on and you should be back in the menu. Go to Photo menu, and select EBOOT Loader 0.8.5.
If you see a blank screen, try hard resetting again.
Then, set a custom background.
Go to Settings menu (on PSP) and then, System Information (I think it's that option). Go to About PSP, leave it running for about 10 seconds then leave the About PSP menu.
Try running the EBOOT Loader again through the photo menu.
To leave the eBoot Loader, press Start.
If you're in a homebrew, hold down L, R and Start.
You will probably have no homebrews at this point.
Check this page: http://fanjita.org/content/psp_working.html to see which EBOOTs will work.
Now, on to one of the most common homebrews: Lua Player.
To get this working, unlike several places which report that Lua does not work without a special User_lua version, Lua Player v0.14 will work.
Do not try homebrew such as PSPersonalise or PSPSet, because it may brick your PSP on 2.0.
To install homebrew, the procedure is basically the same as on 1.5/1.0. 1.0 versions will work best. I won't write it here again since it can be found if you look properly.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. -Jouw
Edit: I forgot to add the eBoot Loader file! |
