Ok, after seeing numerous posts on needed a more simple way to convert your DVD collection for your PSP, I'm putting this up.
DVD TO PSP TUTORIAL v.01 Things that you'll need:
DVD Decrypter
PSP Video 9
DVD Movie/Movie files
Install DVD Decrypter and PSPVideo9, if you havent already done so. There isnt anything trivial about either of their installations.
DVD Dycrypter
Start up the program, with your movie in the drive. If DVD Dec. pops a region code box, check to make sure it's the proper region code and click OK. Next, click on MODE > IFO I.
Look in the right side window and you'll notice a list of numbered VTS folders. These are the video streams. Click on the correct one. It will be the proper length of the movie. DVD Decrypter defaults to the correct one, but double check. Below that you'll see the chapters that the DVD consists of. You can choose any chapters you want to rip here. If you want to skip credits, previews, etc. Just uncheck them.
Next, click on the STREAM PROCESSING tab. Checkmark the box for ENABLE STREAM PROCESSING. Below that you'll see the window that has your video stream, audio stream, and your subtitles. Below that, you'll need to select the DIRECT STREAM COPY radio button.
In this section we want to choose our video and audio streams. I don't ever use the subtitle option. So, check your video stream, and then uncheck all the audio options you do not want to include. I keep the AC3/2ch/English on all my movies.
Last thing we want to do before we rip the movie to the hard drive is turn file splitting off. So click on the TOOL > Settings > IFO Mode tab. Under the options you'll see a drop down box for the FILE SPLITTING. Just choose NONE.
Check the destination that the program will dump your VOB file into. You'll need to remember this for the next process. You can change the destination by click on the little folder, and manually entering a location.
Now click on the button that has the DVD > Hard-drive icon.
DVD Decrypter will now dump a VOB file to the location you chose. After this is done (5-30mins), you can close out the program.
PSPVideo9
Now just open up PSPVideo9 and choose your profile. I figure that it's an easy enough program to use. It has a number of preset profiles to use. When you have it open, click on Transcode New Video. Now navigate to the folder that you saved the movie we just ripped. You'll double-click on the VOB file that is in that folder.
You can alway play around with the settings to suit your mem stick size and quality preferences.
Now let PSPVideo9 do its' thing.
After that, PSPVideo9 can copy the movie to your PSP automatically. Just hook your PSP up to your computer and place it in USB mode. Choose the COPY option, and choose the movie. PSPVideo9 will put it in the right place.
Well, I hope that was easy enough. If I have over-complicated the matter, let me know lol.
