In all my years repairing computers Ive only replaced one usb card because the guys kid jamed a pen in it, other than that they dont really mess up that easy,
Make sure it is securely fastened at both ends, make sure you have the appropiate drivers, try a different port like the ones on the back(if your trying the front)
I still have 10 usb cables and they all work fine, I dont know why everyone else is having them mess up on them. Lastly if you cant fix it maybe the port on the actual psp is faulty, in that case you could always get a memory stick reader for your PC.
