Rep Power: 0 | eh... I HIGHLY doubt it. I dont think the PSP was ever made to read writable UMD's. But who knows... just maybe. I think SONY has learned from the DVD Recordable media that it would be used for mostly illegal use. You can already use a MS Duo for movies, so I really dont think they bother recordable UMD's |

Rep Power: 0 | My guess is that option will become available regardless if Sony wants it or not. Loosens their grip on us and we can profit from that. |

Rep Power: 0 | You will not see a UMD burner. Period. If you think piracy has exploded now, with the release of an ISO loader; just think about what will happen if people could actually burn UMD's. Think about it. |

Rep Power: 0 | It's going to happen, it's inevitable, people love to pirate stuff, and I've heard rumors of UMD readers for the computer... |

Rep Power: 0 | You can tell yourself that however many times you think you need to. The simple fact is, Sony owns the Patents on UMD devices. If a UMD writer was to surface, you'd still need the media, which isnt available either. Sony would be all over whoever released such hardware. An injuction would be filed before anyone was able to place an order. |

Pirates tend to get their hands on this kind of stuff quickly... | First, thats an old article. Next... the article states they are considering letting other COMPANIES use the format to release movies, (umd movies duh) and music on umd. This is old news, as this stuff has already been implemented. Have you seen any UMD Movies ? UMD Music ?
That article, in no way, says that sony will allow a consumer UMD player or writer. Sony has only released a standard that allows companies that pay licensing fees to use the format to release a product. |

But this type of licencing didn't stop people from creating their own 1GB GBA cartridges and GBA cart writers. They've already discovered that UMDs are regular ISO 9960 discs. |
