| Installing a PSP 2000 Replacement Shell Hi, I have a couple of questions and I was wondering if someone could please help me with them, I'd really appreciate it.
For my friend's birthday, I want to buy him a PSP 2000. But I know that he wants it in a specific color, one that it doesn't originally come in. So, my idea was to buy a replacement full housing shell in the color he wants.
My problem is this: I have watched countless tutorials on how to replace the front shell. That isn't my problem. My problem is with the back. I am having trouble finding tutorials on how to replace the back - although I have found a few. The problem with those few is that they involve taking the whole PSP apart, including the removal of the screen.
I'm terrified that if I attempt removing the screen and the complicated process of removing the cover to the UMD section, I will most likely irreversibly damage the PSP. I have some (very little) experience with taking apart electronics, mostly laptops. But I try to avoid messing with screens, as I know how fragile they are.
So. My question are these:
Is it possible to remove and replace the back casing in a simpler way than removing the screen and (as I've heard) replacing some spring to the UMD section? (I've heard some people say that removing the screen is unnecessary.) If so, can you please point me to a tutorial?
If not, is there a tutorial you can recommend that is somewhat simple and very clear/concise?
Also, do you have any other suggestions for "changing" the color of a PSP 2000?
The one I'm going to buy will most likely be black. The shell color I'm looking for is either white (no Darth Vader) or light pink/lavender. I think I've found what I'm looking for on ebay but what I'm really worried about is the installation.
Thanks in advance!! |
