Japanese 1.52 Firmware released - PSP Forum

June 8, 2005 - Sony Computer Entertainment has announced the availability of yet another marginal PSP firmware update over in Japan. The new update brings the operating system up to version 1.52. In addition to security fixes, the update adds a new "UMD" option under the music header of the main menu, allowing users to play back music directly from UMD.

The update process can be started directly from the PSP, or you can connect to SCE's PSP update page, download the update file to Memory Stick and run it from the Memory Stick section of the PSP menu. Future UMD releases will have the update included.

US will probably get a new update soon as well...

Its gotta be soon seeing how when 1.51 was released in japan it only took a couple weeks for ours. On a side note I'd love to have a thread just for ripping on people

when i read about the new music option i thought that it would play the soundtrack of the game inserted. now i know that's not what they meant. how dissappointing.

i agree with bravepotato. i would love to listen to the music on MLB for example.
