Rep Power: 0 | Why are you reposting a link to your thread in mine? The info you got was wrong, seriously go read the manual, it says nothing about *dead pixels* in warranty. Dead pixels are considered a defect. |

did you wake up on the right side of the bed this morning? | Nah, but you should get your infos correct before you jump on the *sony won't warrant dead pixel* bandwagon. |

Rep Power: 0 | well it is true, Sony wont warrant a dead pixel, it is a defect. i understand that, i have dealt with plenty of lcds and warranty problems before, i used to work at circuit city. it has nothing to do with sony quite frankly. If i was on that bandwagon i would have exchanged mine already. Quote: |

According to a technical support associate contacted by GameSpot, PSP owners who encounter a persistent and aggravating dead-pixel issue should contact SCEA's customer service line (1-800-345-7669) for instructions on how to exchange their unit after a week or two of using the unit. "We will work with you," he assured. The associate said the process would work much like exchanging PlayStation 2s that suffer from the dreaded "Disc Read Error" problem: Gamers will mail their PSPs in to SCEA and receive units with new screens. The associate was unsure if customers would receive an all-new unit or their old unit with a new LCD screen.

Rep Power: 0 | Yeah this is about the same stance as the PS2. I've had people I know who were able to get thier lasers replaced on PS2 with no problems. Sony just doesn't want you to send back the PSP prematurely. If it really botheres you after a few weeks they'll take note of it. Alot of the dead pixel problems don't affect gameplay.
However the undeinable fact is that we should'nt see this kind of widespread defective pixels in almost 50% of consoles. Sony really messed up, but people are exaggerating that Sony will just ignore you. |

Even if you read all the posts on all the message boards on the internet that reported dead pixels (assuming all were true), then surveyed everyone you knew with a psp, then everyone you came into contact with that owned a psp, the sum wouldn't even accumulate to a fraction of 500,000 PSP units. So how could you come up with this number? The real number is probably more around what the average is for ALL LCD products that have dead pixels.
This is what pisses me off about this pixel problem, everyone overexaggerates. You have to remember that you're mostly only going to hear from people with problems with their PSP, not nearly as many people will report that it's perfect because they're too busy playing it than being pissed off about 2 dead pixels you cant even see when you play a game.
What makes me even more angry, is that noone realizes Sony doesn't even make the damn LCD's! They just put them in!
To OP, thanks for the article. Glad to see SCEA is taking the right approach on the issue. |

Rep Power: 0 | it's still sony's responsibility since it's thier product. As for the dead pixel problems i've gone through about 5 psps and all of them have had at least 3-7 dead pixels and dust. Just look around, it's pretty rampant. Gamespot states that 50%of the psps in thier office have dead pixels.
Trust me my plasma TV has no dead pixels and it's 42" lol and out of all 3 lcds I have only 1 has 1 dead pixel.
I know you love sony but there's no reason to have company loyalty =p that's how fanboys are made. And then you blindly support companies that solely exist to take your money. |
