I got my PSP at EBgames and I got the warranty. Now I got my system and it has one dead pixel. It is towards the top right. Not completely in the corner but not totally annoying either. It doesn't affect gameplay at all. The one thing is though is that I am a little anal when it comes to these things. Should I swap out the unit for a new one right now or beat up on it awhile (I just mean use it not actually beat on it) and get one say 6 months down the road?

Beat it up a while, wait for teh units withthe new longer life batteries then swap it out. If you have no other gameplay problems you can probably live with it. That's what I'm doing. I've got roughly 3 dead pixels

I'd deal with it... except, I didn't deal with it... I went through 20 units and found a perfect one. If you want to save yourself the headache, torture yourself for a while with that one dead pixel and eventually you won't care about it anymore.

Yeah that is the way I am leaning. The pixel doesn't affect gameplay at all as it is hardly noticeable while playing. Problems aside it's an amazing little system. It's a shame it has to be down played by these issues.

Mine actually got one of my dead pixels after I had played with it for a day or so. It happened as soon as I popped in the Spider Man UMD. I guess I'm just saying bewarned that a perfect screen now may not be so in a couple of weeks. I only notice mine on an all black screen.

I was actually very angry the day I got it by the dead pixels, the dust I got under my screen protector and just not having time to play cause I had to go to work. But I cleaned the screen up as best I could, started playing Lumines, wipeout and Ridge racer put some movies and music on it and all was forgotten. The graphics are amazing for a handheld. I'll just be using my Eb warranty one day

All in all I guess it was worth taking the extra EB warranty. Hopefully in 6-12 months the kinks will be worked out....and then I can grab a new one. One thing you have to give Nintendo is their stance on quality. I understand that with LCD screens these things happen but I'm not sure that even computer monitors suffer from this many dead pixel issues. I see enough of them at work (computer tech.) and we don't have any with dead pixels.
