Wireless connection with 2.01 - PSP Forum

Now every one is back in my house after christmas it seems that we all got, or bought ourselves, PSP's during the break. I've been trying to get the other guys PSP's online now giving them access to my wireless router but one of the PSP's has fw 2.01 and I cannot seem to get it to connect properly. Two of the other PSP's in the house are running 2.5 already and they all connect perfectly OK, it's just the 2.01 one that won't connect.

The Sony updates page does not list any changes to the wireless configuration between 2.01 and 2.5 as far as I can see. I've had a look around various places and haven't seen anthing about anyone else having a similar problem yet but thought I'd just check here first.

I have MAC filtering and SSID broadcast disabled on the router with WPA encryption. Has anyone had trouble with 2.01? I'd just rather not go updating the fw unless absolutely nessecary.

try disabling mac filtering and use WEP encryption instead

Or just dont use any encryption. It will leave your network open to anyone, but you will have no problems

I've still to try again with the 2.01 PSP, but now due to having NFS MW I have had to switch to using just WEP encryption as the game seems to have its own implementation of the wireless application that will not work with WPA. :x

I've also now turned on the SSID broadcast and although the 2.6/ 2.6 PSP's connect first time OK I'm not happy about needing to reduce the security due to dodgy wireless implementation in the PSP.
