This is quite wrong... the number of dead pixels to make a quarter-sized spot would be in the thousands. Most manufacturer's have lowered the number of Pixels needed to be defective as LCD's become more common. Dell sets it at 5 or more, which is the standard most places. Samsung has stated that ANY dead pixels warrants replacement and of course Nintendo has done the same on the DS.
These are of course for much larger LCD screens (the DS excepted) with millions of pixels compared to the roughly 130,000 on the PSP. Sony's blurb in the manual about dead/stuck pixels being normal is just a way to legitimize their shoddy quality control. I don't mind so much that dead pixels are apparently on most PSP's - Sony's attitude towards the whole thing is what really irks.
My PSP has 3 dead and 3 stuck pixels and fortunately, in case Best Buy tries to welch on the PRP, dust under the screen cover and some imperfections in the cover itself. Right now I'm just deciding whether to return it right away or wait a few weeks until the next batch ships from Sony.
