I always thought that it was funny to call it a universal media disc when it's a Sony proprietary format.

hmm. so many quick and harsh posts to this guy. The poster even gets a warning not to flame but everyone flames him-I call BS on that. Grow up people.

None of you have any idea what Sony is planning with the UMD in regards to burnable media in the future.

Very soon Flash technology is going to make it useless for Sony to keep UMD's un-burnable for the sake of protecting themselves from people stealing. When you can afford to buy a 8, 10 or 20 gig flash card for your psp no one will care about UMD's anymore. Heck, I have some really neat looking disks that work in my now unused MiniDisk player...but hardrives mp3's and Flash players (my Nano) make those MD's obsolete.

Disapointed that the forum has degraded to such repetitive useless responses.

No one knows sony's plans, the UMD's are supposed to be Universal, a security thing could be put on game much like some dvd's like i said so before, this is like when cds or DVDs were first released as recordable media, now that wasnt a stupid Idea. It takes time and depends on popularity and use. Sony has talked about Blueray UMD's which wont even be compatible with the psp but it would be nice to have a small 25 gb umd.
