I've never owned a portable game system before, so I'm kind of new to this but as I'm at the top of the demographic being 35 year old I do have many years of gaming experience! The last console I bought was a Sega Saturn in Japan and I only got it for one game - Virtua Fighter which actually came free with it. But that's been in the garage for years now and to date I've been a PC gamer exclusively. Mostly FPS's like Far Cry but generally any games with a bit of thinking required.
I like the PSP graphics, games and wireless capability. I also funnily enough really like the UMD video playback because I travel a lot and I'd like to watch my own stuff on the plane.
